Day 15 - 5th July 2026

I had another early start (for me) at 5am today. Showered, emptied the casette and disposed of the rubbish all before 6am. The van was packed up and ready to set off and I left an overcast Bunree at 7.15am.

The driving on a Sunday at this time was excellent, with nothing on the roads. This left me with a great drive over Glencoe. There were plenty of motorhomes parked up in various spots, a blue car parked in a ditch along the way (police tape was present, so they knew about it), and a deer having a sleep by the side of the road.

The only bit of the driving I have not enjoyed is the stretch of the A82 running alongside Loch Lomond between Tarbet and Aldcholay. It is very narrow, usually with rocks on one side of the road. Luckily for me, I had a front blocker in the form of a McDonald's lorry, so oncoming traffic had already moved over.

The roads steadily grew wider as I approached Glasgow. I took the turns and drove over the Erskine Bridge and onto the M8, then the M74. I stopped for a brew and a bacon butty at about 9.30 at a services on the M74 and stayed for about 30 minutes, killing time and taking the chance to stretch. I resumed the journey and continued towards Carlisle.

The scenery on the M74/M6 is just stunning. I put the cruise control on and stayed at about 53mph to Carlisle. I pulled off and needed to fuel up, so over £100 lighter and with a full tank of fuel, I pulled into Green Acres at 1pm.

Pitching up is simple here as everything is fairly level, so no need for the levelling ramps. It is a bit of a change from the last time I was here, as the weather is overcast, but not too cold.

There was also a nice surprise when I arrived, the park was getting a delivery of a Sunday lunch. I ordered mine, paid a grand total of £13 which included a £2 delivery fee and patiently waited.

I had a lovely roast beef dinner with all the trimmings.
