Day 7 - 27th June 2026

Saturday was the day after the lightning. The storms were still there. It was windy, even when I was on the drive on blocks.

We had breakfast and then made a plan for the day. A trip for the youngest to go fishing was planned and we set off about 11 am to head to the location. The wind as we dropped down towards Tarbet had the motorhome blowing all over the road. We turned off onto the road towards Hushinish.

Thanks to some 4-legged locals, I was stuck for a couple of minutes until they had enough of chewing the cud in the road and moved ever so slightly to let me get past.

The road is very up and down and side to side and this continued for about 10 miles until we reached the spot. However, there wasn’t anywhere to park up the motorhome without annoying lots of people so I turned around and headed to Tarbet and the distillery.

When I got into Tarbet, it looked quite quiet and when I tried the door of the distillery I saw why; it was only open 9.30 to 12.30. I had arrived at 13.30. Bugger. I had a little wander around the Harris Tweed shops to see if I could pick up a flat cap. Not at £25 (which was discounted down from £40) and not in my size.

I made contact with Ruth and headed back to the house and parked up for the rest of the day.
