Day 3 - 23rd June 2026
Well, that was an early start. This wasn’t the intention but when your bladder wants you to get up at 4.30 and then your brain says stay awake, thats what you do. Had a relax in bed though and then though about getting going.
The morning in Milarrochy was very calm and peaceful and very misty. You could not see to the other side of Loch Lomond. A nice slow prepare to move and at 7.30, with a coffee in the travel mug, it was go time.
The nice thing about Camping and Caravan Sites is that they have a motorhome service point, so you can empty your grey tank if you have had anything go into it. That was done and then back onto the roads.
There are no more motorways on the journey now so we set off through the country. The route kindly took me past a Co-op so I stopped and foraged for some breakfast and stuff for dinner. My shopping spree was cut short by the arcahic licensing laws in Scotland which meant I couldn’t buy any cider until 10am. Pah.
The journey again was uneventful and I was exceptionally early. I decided to detour into Oban to see if I could find any coolant for the motorhome. The place suggested did exist, but was right in the middle of Oban. I didn’t have a cat in hells chance of parking anywhere nearby.
It was then off to have my wallet surgically removed after filling half a tank with diesel. Not too bad and still less than £100, but only just. I’m travelling at approx 33mpg throughout this journey. It will be interesting to see how this changes when I arrive in the Outer Hebrides where the roads become a lot more 3 dimensional.
A lunch was then gotton from a garden centre just up the road. The views in the outside area were great and overlooked a marina. It was then off to the camp site.
